A company who will have Internet processing rates is defined as accepting:

85% or more of their credit cards through the Internet, phone and mail;
85% or more of their credit card transactions w/o the card being present;
85% or more of their credit card transactions using keyed entry to manually enter the credit card number into the terminal or gateway.

A company who will have store front processing rates is defined as accepting:

85% or more of their credit cards through a physical store front while sliding the credit card strip in a physical terminal;
85% or more of their credit card transactions where the card is physically persent.
85% or more of their credit card transactions where the card is physically persent and a wireless processing terminal is used.

Some companies may qualify for both Internet and store front rates and will be set up with both types of merchant account. These companies normally have large amounts of transactions through both the Internet and a physical store front.
